UNIT 27: Present perfect continuous (hiện tại hoàn thành tiếp diễn)

 

To talk about a situation or an activity that starts in the past and has been in progress until now. (nói về một tình huống hay hành động bắt đầu trong quá khứ, tiếp diễn cho tới  thời điểm hiện tại)

 

  1.   Grammar

1. Form

Subject + has / have + been + Verb-ing

  • Examples:
  • She has been living in New York for over a year now.
  • It has been raining for over 2 days.
  •  Example:
  • Positive: They have been watching TV for 1 hour.
  • Negative: They haven’t been watching TV for 1 hour.
  • Yes/no question: Have they been watching TV for 1 hour? -Yes, they have been./No, they haven’t been.
  • Question word: How long have they been watching TV? -For one hour.

1.Usage

  1. Refering to a recent situation or activity and focuses on its present results.        (liên quan đến tình huống hay hành động gần đây và nhấn mạnh vào kết quả hiện tại)
  2.      Examples:
  3. Look! It has been snowing.
  4. “You are looking thinner”. “I have been doing a lot of sports to lose weight”

b)  Making questions with “how long” and ask how long something has been in progress (đặt câu hỏi với “how long” và hỏi sự việc xảy ra được bao lâu)

  • Examples:  How long have you been waiting for me?

1.  Put the verbs into the correct form of present perfect continuous.

a. He (work) in this company since 1985.

b. I (wait) for you since two o'clock.

c. Mary (live) in Germany since 1992.

d. Why is he so tired? He (play) tennis for five hours.

e. How long (learn/you) English?

f. We (look for) the motorway for more than an hour.

g. I (live) without electricity for two weeks.

h. The film (run/not) for ten minutes yet, but there's a commercial break already.

i. How long (work/she) in the garden?

j. She (not/be) in the garden for more than an hour.
